
The Association of Smoking and Smokeless Tobacco with COVID-19 Related Outcomes in terms of Morbidity and Mortality in Bangladesh
Severe and critical cases of COVID-19 have emerged as significant contributors to the high mortality rates witnessed globally, claiming over 6.9 million lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) had inaugurated the National Telehealth services is known as ‘Shastho Batayon 16263′ in 2016. Shastho Batayon’ has been financed by the MoHFW through Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The activity of ‘Shastho Batayon’ has played a crucial role in providing health services during COVID-19 pandemic including COVID-19 patient treatment and management of services. The information collected from COVID-19 patients during services provide by National Telehealth and further follow up periods served the dataset for our study. This study aimed to explore the correlation between smoking and COVID-19 outcomes in Bangladesh, with a specific focus on morbidity and mortality.
Additionally, we explored various demographic, comorbidity, and behavioral factors associated with the outcomes of COVID-19.
